New to Triathlons?
We encourage everyone to put in some time preparing for this race.
If you are a beginner or novice swimmer we hope you will train to prepare for your swim so that you may feel the accomplishment of finishing your swim leg without assistance. If race day arrives and you feel uncomfortable about the swim you will be allowed to use either, 1) a life jacket or, 2) a kick board, should you feel the need.
You will not be allowed to use flippers, or other swimming aids. Please realize that by using one of these items you will not be able to swim as fast as you would if you were swimming without them.
Know what your distances are and the changes in elevation so that you can prepare sufficiently for your individual race portions.VIEW COURSE MAP
Running or riding at night
Runners and bikers will be alone on the course at times. The following rules and suggestions should be noted:
- Team Vehicles are encouraged to stop somewhere along each leg to watch for their runner.
- Team Vehicles are permitted to “Shadow” runners during nighttime legs only. “Shadowing” means that a vehicle parks a couple hundred yards ahead of their runner. Once the runner passes, the vehicle waits until the runner is a couple hundred yards ahead again, etc. Vehicles must obey traffic laws and are not permitted to follow behind runners at the runner’s pace.
- No vehicles will be allowed to follow behind participants to illuminate the road during night-time legs. These vehicles severely impede traffic.
- Runners must wear reflective safety vest and a headlamp.
